  2. Be Pro Active • Spread the word that the system exists and works. • Don’t spread negative information • Set up system so that incidents get immediately reported. • Assignors & Associations – post how to information on news page or website.

  3. When an Incident Happens Get the Report done (more next) Assignors – to help the program -- if you get information from other sources, please get contact information so referee or advocate can contact. Witnesses are VITALLY important to process -- get or have referee contact information ready for referee advocate -- email referee advocate chair immediately, so they can encourage the referee to file the report

Just the Facts (and the Reaction) Get the details down on paper as soon as possible, use facts What happened, where and when in the Game Who did it (player’s number, name ; jersey color; team name) Where it happened (location on-field; off field) Reaction of other players ; coaches Reaction of other match officials Reaction of spectators Get the facts right

  5. The Nitty Gritty Details Use Proper Terminology According to the Laws Stick to the Facts—No Opinions Please Quote Statements or Words Said Make it Precise, Professional, Informative and Accurate Keep Your Emotions Out-Describe Theirs

  6. Filing a Game Report Note Incident on Game Report—”with Supplement to Follow” Notify the Assignor (quicker = better) File a Supplemental Report File Referee Game Incident Report (online and within 48 hours)

  7. Game Incident Report To file the report properly, you need to submit it within 48 hours by email and SEND a signed copy. Your report will not be complete until BOTH actions are taken. The email serves as initial notification. Your signed report is the official notification. Each referee provides written/signed report.

  8. After the Hearing • Spread the word – of the punishment so the person does not participate before sentence served. • Nearby assignors • Referees for appropriate leagues • Nearby leagues and clubs • Referees involved should not be assigned to team or individual for at least a season, including HS etc…let the fire die down not reignite. • When the punishment is served, be aware but be fair.
