Green Ethernet Features D-Link's Green Ethernet implements special power-saving features that detect link status and cable length* and adjust power usage accordingly. • If there is no cable link or link partners turn off, Green Ethernet will put that port in a “sleep mode”, reducing power used for that port and saving energy. • Green Ethernet detects Ethernet cable length and adjusts power usage to save power. This way, a port connected to a 20m cable only uses as much power as it needs, instead of using full power, which is only needed for 100m cables.   5. Green Ethernet Features • For Gigabit Smart, the “Power Saving” function is provided for customers in Web GUI. By default it is enabled.   10. How to Derive the Power Saving Two different power meters are used which figure out the similar power consumption. The power meters D-Link used are professional and come out the figure with more accuracy, comparing with palm-sized power meter ( which your media or press guys might use !! ) Way 2 Power Meter Brand: EXTECHPower Meter Model: 6805 Power Meter Brand: ALL PowerPower Meter Model: APW-110 Way 1 Plug in the power adapter of Switch into power meter.

  11. Power Consumption & Power Saving %sample: DGS-1005D [ Jan. 2008 Update ] Note that the power consumption & power saving vary from different power adapters used by different regions. For a standard sales pitch, we use the power saving % measured at 120V using 5V/1.2A power adapter. Also, we reserve some margin so the saving % under link down on GB is 44%. The saving % of a day on GB is 27%. Power Adapter: switching 5V/1.2A. Input Voltage: 120V Measured at AC end. Power Adapter: linear DC 7.5V/1A. Input Voltage: 230V Measured at AC end.

Housing for Green Ethernet DGS-1005D/1008D: In order to speed up time to market, rather than creating a new ID for this product, an existing ID will be used with a new housing color to differentiate Green Ethernet product from currently shipping product. • Housing Color: Changed from the current silver color to white • Top & Front Panel: Green logo on panel, front panel color changed to white
