  2. but in the future He will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan—

  3. 2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; • on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

  4. 3 You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; • they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, • as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder.

  5. 4 For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, • You have shattered • the yoke that burdens them, • the bar across their shoulders, • the rod of their oppressor.

  6. 5 Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire.

  7. 6 For to us a Child is born, • to us a Son is given, • and the government will be on His shoulders. • And He will be called • Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, • Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

  8. 7 Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end. • He will reign on David’s throne • and over his kingdom,

  9. establishing and upholding it • with justice and righteousness • from that time on and forever. • The zeal of the Lord Almighty • will accomplish this.

  10. Acts 4:12 (NIV) • 2 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

  11. Philippians 2:10 (NIV) • that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, • in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

  12. Romans 10:13 (NIV) • for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

  13. Isaiah 9:6b • And He will be called • Wonderful Counselor, • Mighty God, • Everlasting Father, • Prince of Peace.

  14. Greek word for wonderful • Pele: wonder, marvel; Something extraordinary; Something that is hard to understand

  15. Isaiah 9:6b • And He will be called • Wonderful Counselor, • Mighty God, • Everlasting Father, • Prince of Peace.

  16. Matthew 28:18 NIV • Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me

  17. Colossians 1:15-17 • 15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

  18. 16 For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.

  19. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

  20. Isaiah 9:6b • And He will be called • Wonderful Counselor, • Mighty God, • Everlasting Father, • Prince of Peace.

  21. Revelation 13:8 (NIV) • All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world...

  22. John 10:30-33 (NIV) • I and the Father are one.”

  23. 31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone Me?”

  24. 33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because You, a mere man, claim to be God.”

  25. Philippians 2:10 (NIV) • that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

  27. Phillipians 4-6 (NIV) • 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

  28. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  29. Philippians 2:8-11 (NIV) • 8 And being found in appearance as a man, • he humbled himself • by becoming obedient to death— • even death on a cross!

  30. 9 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place • and gave Him the name that is above every name,

  31. 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, • in heaven and on earth and under the earth, • 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, • to the glory of God the Father.
