  12. Lucifer Wanted God’s Place • I will ascend into heaven (Isa 14:13) • 3 heavens • 1st heaven – atmosphere that surrounds the earth • 2nd heaven – interstellar space where angels dwell • 3rd heaven – God lives • Lucifer lived in the 2nd heaven and was happy -> he wants to go to the 3rd heaven

  13. Lucifer Wanted God’s Position • I will raise my throne above the stars of God (Isa 14:13) • He was a Five-Star General but he wanted to be the Commander in Chief

  14. Lucifer Wanted God’s Power • I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north (Isa 14:13) • He wanted to control all the affairs of the entire universe

Lucifer Wanted God’s Perfection • I will ascend above the heights of the clouds (Isa 14:14) • There are more than 150 references to clouds in the Bible and well over those references are related to the presence of God (Ex 16:10, 40:34, Matt 24:30) • Lucifer was saying he was going to take to himself a greater glory than the glory of God. • He does not want to be a reflector of God’s glory; he wanted to be the originator of God’s perfect glory.

  16. Lucifer Wanted God’s Privilege •  I will be like the Most High (Isa 14:14) • He wanted to be responsible to no one but himself. • In Matt 4:9, he wanted Jesus to worship him.
