  2. History • Humans have been using wind power for at least 5,500 years to propel sailboats and sailing ships. Windmills have been used for irrigation pumping and for milling grain since the 7th century AD.

  4. Functioning • Currently we use the wind to move turbines - large turbines placed in areas of high wind. These turbines have the shape of a windmill or a windmill.

  5. Wind energy • The most comprehensive study as of 2005[13] found the potential of wind power on land and near-shore to be 72 TW, equivalent to 54,000 MToE (million tons of oil equivalent) per year, or over five times the world's current energy use in all forms

In Brazil • Brazil has a potential wind farm143,000 MW • Since the inception of Proinfa, Brazil's wind energy production has escalated from 22 MW in 2003 to 602 MW in 2009, as part of 36 private projects. • Today, there are 50 wind farms in operation in the country, according to the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (Abeeólica)

  9. The wind turbines in Brazil generate only 0.87% of all energy in the country, the equivalent of a  1 gigawatt. •  There are at least 35 parks under construction in the Country

  10. Developing these wind power sources in Brazil is helping the country to meet its strategic objectives of enhancing energy security, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating jobs. The potential for this type of power generation in Brazil could reach up to 145,000 MW. Largest Wind Farm in Latin America – Osório – RS.
