Mission Statement The Estate Management Department provides a high quality service to enable the delivery of a state-of-the-art learning environment for students and the business community within the context of the Estates Strategy.The 'estate' comprises all freehold, leasehold and joint venture land and buildings occupied as part of the University business.

  3. Estate Management Structure

  4. Administration TeamProviding administration support to all sections of the department ranging from processing paper work to purchasing ordering processing incorporating insurance and financial services.

  5. Design Services Development of the University’s Estates Portfolio in line with the Estates Strategy, via an in-house professional building design team and the use of external consultants as necessary.

  6. Maintenance ServicesTo ensure that the fabric of the estate and its constituent elements are maintained to a standard in line with the estates strategy and to ensure that support services are delivered to facilitate the effective running of the University.

  7. Campus ServicesTo ensure the provision of a clean and safe working environment with effective portering and transportation services and the provision of Printing Services to serve the best needs of the University.

  8. Design Services Structure

  9. Buxton Spa • £1M project. • 30 weeks duration. • Creation of fully equipped health spa for teaching spa management, alternative therapies & beauty therapy. • Commercial venture – specialist treatments & spa days available to purchase by public/staff/students. • Wet and dry side areas.

  10. Buxton Spa Wet side: • Spa pool including massager and air seat • Steam room • Sauna • Dry float table • Hammam wet table • Ice station • Monsoon shower

  11. Buxton Spa Dry side: • Treatment cubicles • Chill out / relaxation zone • Changing rooms • Shower areas

  12. Britannia Mill • £1.7M estimated project cost. • 26 week duration. • 5 storey old mill building. • Phased refurbishment programme.

  13. Britannia Mill • Installation of new slate roof with electronic roof windows. • New double glazed powder coated aluminium windows & doors. • Cleaning and repair of brickwork. • Insulation and rendering of stairwells. • New boiler plant & controllable heating system by BMS

  14. Toilet Accommodation • £250K project cost. • 20 weeks duration. • Existing toilet provision in poor condition –some infrastructure possibly 50 years old! • Brief- To modernise and include sustainability measures to reduce energy and water resource.

  15. Toilet Accommodation • New cubicles, sanitary ware, vanity units, wall & floor finishes, lighting and suspended ceilings. • Occupancy sensors to control lighting. • Infra red cistermiser to control water usage and urinals. • Push action taps to reduce water usage. • New extract ventilation

  16. Sports Pitch • £750K project cost. • 20 weeks duration. • Creation of synthetic sports pitches to provide all weather all year round facilities for students/staff. • Bookable up to 9pm

  17. Sports Pitch • Full size soccer pitch • Full size hockey pitch. (national standard). • Two 5 / 7-a-side football/hockey pitches across main pitch. • Two tennis courts currently under construction.

  18. Fenestration • £15M project cost. • Project completion 2010. • Replace existing single glazed elevations with modern double-glazed PPC aluminium units: • Units to be fixed to existing structural framework with steel channel & brackets. • Photo voltaic and solar panels • Brise soleille solar shading • Amazing visual impact. • Environment impact – energy use cut dramatically.

  19. Future projects Extension to sports provision including new: • Sports hall • Changing rooms • Squash courts • Gymnasium
