  2. What is Migration ? • The movement of people from place to place • It has been done since the beginning of humanity

  3. Types of Migration • internal migration- the movement of people from rural to urban areas • External migration- on the other hand is the movement of people across long distances and international borders • But both is caused by the same factors

  4. Internal Migration • It made areas urbanize rapidly • In Latin America 50 to 60 percent of people are living in cities • Highly urbanize societies are those of Western and Northern Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and temperate South America and North America • Countries in Asia and Africa barely just began the process of urbanization

  5. Urbanization • Are those who are forced to adjust to a new life style • They often find themselves lacking of necessities • Slums often cause problems with living conditions • Diseases cause problems in their population

  6. External Migration • The reasons why they leave their home countries: • Escape persecution • Search for better jobs • Escape the ravages of war • Better health care • More educational opportunities

  7. Migrant Communities • Migration led to interactions of different cultures • Migrants bring their culture to host countries which creates conflict • Migrants and citizens of host countries are competing for job opportunities
