South Carolina Diesel Initiatives • Diesel Retrofits • Clean School Bus USA Initiative – The South Carolina Department of Education received $499,099 to retrofit approximately 197 buses with diesel oxidation catalysts, replace up to 12 older diesel school buses, install idle reduction devices, and conduct a biodiesel pilot project. • EPA Clean Diesel Grant - York Technical College and partners, including SCDOT and the City of Rock Hill, was awarded a $95,000 grant to retrofit publicly owned non-road vehicles. • Santee Cooper Supplemental Environmental Project –$1 million for a clean diesel school bus project.

South Carolina Diesel Initiatives • Biofuels Production Credit legislation introduced in SC House • Hybrid Vehicle Credit legislation introduced in SC House • Palmetto State Clean Fuels Coalition and SC Department of Agriculture working with biodiesel producers to explore feasibility of alternative feed stocks

  5. South Carolina Diesel Initiatives • Carolina Biofuels, LLC producing biodiesel in Taylors, SC. Projects to have an annual production capacity of 39 million gallons by summer 2006. • Spinx Co., Inc opened seven B20 sites in the Greenville/Spartanburg area and projects to have over 43 locations as Carolina Biofuels increases production.
