  2. Sexual Abuse Prevention & Treatment (SAPT) Program Mission: To reduce the incidence of sexual abuse on children through community prevention, education and specialized treatment services

  3. SAPT Program Description • Specializing in the treatment of child and adolescent victims and families impacted by sexual abuse and with children exhibiting sexualized behaviors. • Child-focused/family-centered program that uses group, individual, and family therapy in a combination uniquely tailored to the individual needs of each child and family. • Treatment focuses on working collaboratively with the child and family's existing strengthsand support so as to resolve the trauma, restore normal development, eliminate abusive behaviors and prevent the recurrence of sexual trauma.

  5. Program Goals • Reduce the risk for sexual acting out behaviors • Support children remaining at home or the least restrictive setting possible, and with therapy and safety plans in place • Coordinate services between multiple providers for effective communication

  6. Program Goals • Educate and support the family and/or caregivers on child sexual abuse, signs and symptoms and parenting a child who acts out sexually • Promote identification and early intervention for sexually inappropriate behaviors

  7. Typical Client • 6-10 years old • Male (65%), Female (35%) • Dual Diagnosis with PTSD • Developmentally delayed • Foster care or relative placement • From extremely rigid or chaotic homes • Victim of sexual abuse (80%) • Multigenerational sexual abuse

Resilience • Determines the way clients react to and deal with stress (e.g., PTSD) • Measure of treatment outcome for clients with PTSD (Connor-Davidson, 2006) • Can be improved over time • Improved resilience = more favorable treatment outcome • Greater improvements corresponds to greater degrees of clinical global improvements
