  2. Habitat • The giant panda lives in Central China. • They sleep at the bottom of trees under stumps and rock ledges.

  3. Appearance • Giant Pandas are mammals. • Giant Pandas have white chubby bodies with black legs. They are very furry.

  4. Food • Giant Pandas eat bamboo. • The pandas claws help them eat bamboo.

  5. Young • Female pandas give birth to one or two pandas. • The babies are born every two or three years. • Female panda take care of its young 12 hours per day.

  6. Threats • People are cutting down forests for wood and farmland. • China had destroyed a large part of the giant pandas habitat. • China’s government tried to help by establishing reserves of bamboo –rich public land for them.

  7. Interesting facts • Pandas are good tree climbers. • They can swim to escape from predators.
