  2. Welcome to all new Representatives of Community Colleges who have joined our fold.

  3. Please permit me to first allay some of the misgivings which still exist

  4. Community Colleges which fulfill the desired conditions gets REGISTEREDwith IGNOU, neither affiliated nor recognised.

  5. Categories of Programmes Cat. 1 - IGNOU Programmes directly taken up by the Community Colleges Cat. 2 - IGNOU Programmes being handled differently by the Community Colleges Cat. 3 - Programmes conceived by the Community Colleges

  6. Special Reference to Category-1 Programmes ALL IGNOU NORMS ARE TO BE ADHERED TO STRICTLY. THERE CAN NOT BE ANY DEPARTURE

  7. CATEGORY-2 Programmes The Creditisation to be followed will not be the same as that of the corresponding IGNOU Programme. The Creditisation has to be repackaged by the Community College concerned.

  8. CATEGORY-3 Programmes Programmes are supposed to provide the distinctive identity of the Community College. Efforts should be taken to launch more Category-3 Programmes.

  9. Levels of Programmes • Certificate - 16 - 20 credits • Diploma - 32- 36 credits • ADP - 64- 68 credits • Non-Credit Customized Programmes

  10. Eligibility Conditions(Certificate Programmes) 8th standard pass/no formal qualification for some specific courses/ through BPP/ bridge courses of any Open University or equivalent.

  11. Eligibility Conditions(Diploma Programmes) • 10th Standard pass – Direct Entry • Below 10th Standard or fail – Through BPP – Bridge courses of any Open University or equivalent.

  12. Eligibility Conditions(Associate Degree Programmes) • Plus 2 - Direct entry • Non Plus 2 - Through BPP/ Bridge Courses of any Open University or equivalent

  13. BEYOND ADP Since one of the objectives of the Scheme is to have a smooth joining between ADP and Three Year Degree Programme, it is imperative that the Certificate/ Diploma/ADP should be at the Undergraduate Level.

  14. ASSOCIATE STUDENTSHIP AND ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMME IGNOU has a Scheme called Associate Studentship. This is not to be confused with ADP. As such IGNOU does not offer any Associate Degree Programme.

  15. Codification Community College Code:– • First Character: C (Common for all) • Next two Characters: First two Characters of short form of Community College. • Next two characters: First two digits of their Pin Code • Next two Characters: Increment corresponding to the pin code. For Example: C AI 11 02 (AIWC Community College)

  16. Codification Programme Code: • At First, Short Form of the Programme. • Level: (C=Cert, D=Dipl, A=ADP, N=Non Credit Customised Programme) • Category: • Last Three Characters: Increment subject to same programme offered by Community Colleges. For Example: BA A 3 002 (Business Administration, ADP, Cat.3, )

  17. REGISTRATION Every Community College will have to prepare a Student Handbook and Prospectus as per the prototype to be sent. Certificate/Diploma/ADP has to be done in modular form. Certificate → Diploma → ADP Community College offering programmes (like a one-year diploma or a two-year ADP) are required to register students for the subsequent semesters/years of study. The Community Colleges concerned with prepare formats for this purpose.

  18. Examination Norms • Please refer to our e-mail dated 12 November, 2009 • Please remember that Examination Fee is Rs. 50/- per student, irrespective of number of courses. • Please raise questions about the formats sent to you.

  19. ONE WORD OF CAUTION We have got information from several sources that some of the Community Colleges are still trying to open franchises/ branches. These are to be stopped forthwith.
