Project • BIOKOS: bioenergy plant to Kostomuksha • Years 2013-2014 • Budget 1 099 960 EUR • Investment project, target to build 1 MW CHP plant • Technology is based on gasification, raw materials are sludge and wood chips • Plant will be built in connection to water treatment plant Regional Council of Kainuu / Sanna Nikola-Määttä

Partners • Regional Council of Kainuu, Lead Partner • Kostomuksha Urban District, will own the plant and biggest own-funding • PlaNomaTmi, head planning of the plant • RecyclingEnergyInt.Corp., technology of the gasification • MUP Teploseti, design and construction of infrastructure • OOO AplSov, supply of wood chips and transportation Regional Council of Kainuu / Sanna Nikola-Määttä

Specific in BIOKOS • Plant delivery and investment project • Supply Chain Management • Equipment/manufacturing, automation, technology all together • Technical Requirements from Russian / The Custom Union’s legislation • New requirements or coming new requirements notice EU regulation like ATEX 94/9/EY, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EY etc. • Quality Control of Manufacturing • Certification by third party (accredit by Russians requirements) • Export/Import to Russia • The first plant using both technologies together, dryer and gasification • Schedule and budget is limited • Manufacturing, testing, transportation and customs, installation and start-up must do during project schedule and under the budget • Project ends 31th of December 2014, no costs to project after that • Planning, Dimensioning, Risk management, Supply Chain Management, Quality Control of Manufacturing, Co-operation with Supplies and Partners! => Only way is to do right things on right time and succeed Regional Council of Kainuu / Sanna Nikola-Määttä

Benefits of the BIOKOS • Concrete project which increases using of bioenergy in Karelia • Finnish innovations • Thermal Dryer • Gasification • Raw materials are sludge and wood chips • Remaining ash is a form of granular • Possibilities to develop new ash solutions for different applications: it depends on physical, chemical and mineralogy properties of ash • In business, it creates policies and management model for any further supply of the future Regional Council of Kainuu / Sanna Nikola-Määttä
