  1. 2010-2011Matanzas Cheerleading Parent Meeting

  2. Your child’s behavior • We do expect your child to behave better than their classmates. • They are held to a higher standard. • The culture of our school is such that teachers will come to the coach first. • If your child’s behavior becomes a concern you will be notified prior to any disciplinary action.

  3. Game day behavior • I expect all cheerleaders to stay in their lines and attend to the game. • If you need to pass a message, drink, food money, etc. to your child I will be happy to do that for you. • If you need to call your child out of line please let me know and I will get them as I have told them they are expected not to get out of line.

  4. Game day behavior • The team will no longer be bringing their book bags, backpacks, purses or phones to the track on games days for home games. • All personal items will be locked in my classroom. • Cheer bags only will be allowed at away games. • I will happily carry small items (food, wallets, etc.) in my backpack at home games. • I will have my phone in case of emergencies.

  5. Grades • Second to their behavior, their grades are most important. • We will have 30 minutes of mandatory study hall Monday-Thursday for varsity, Monday-Wednesday for JV. • This will also be time for your child to make up tests, quizzes, or go to tutoring if they need help without missing practice.

  6. Grade sheets • Your child will be expected to turn in a grade sheet every week. If they do not there will be consequences. • If there are consistently low grades I will contact you as I will send your child to tutoring instead of letting them come to practice. • Never will I ever deny your child the opportunity to go to tutoring, make up assignments, or get the help they may need.

  7. Grade sheets • If your child tells you “Coach wouldn’t let me…” it is because they have not asked me or told me they need help and there is no indication on their grade sheets they are in need of assistance. • I have never nor will I ever stop a student from going to tutoring as their grades must be up to par in order for them to remain on the team.

  8. Uniforms • Uniforms will not be issued until after GPA’s come out in June. • Uniforms are property of the school. • The shells and skirts are designed to be easily let out and/or taken in. • Your child will not receive a uniform custom fit to them, there may be instances where alterations are needed in order to accommodate everyone on the team.

  9. Uniforms • If you do not sew, please do not pay for alterations, I will take care of it. • UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE THE SKIRTS TO BE HEMMED! • If the skirts are hemmed they will be considered damaged and will be charged to your child regardless of who did the alterations.

  10. Payments • The first payment of $175 is due on or before April 23rd. Sponsorship letters and media guide ad forms are available from me now and may be printed from my web site. • The remaining balance must be paid on or before the last day of school, June 8th. • Once I receive the final order conformation from Varsity, I will send home final balances.

  11. Payments • Payments can be made in installments or all at once, whatever is most convenient for you. • Camp clothes will not be ordered until the first $175 is paid in full. • Please make all payments out to Matanzas High School

  12. Fundraisers • The cheerleaders sell advertisements for the fall media guide, the forms are available. • The amount that would be applied to your cheerleaders balance is listed on the first page. • I have drafted letters for the cheerleaders to take to businesses in order to obtain corporate sponsors if need be. • Additional forms are available on my web site.

  13. Fundraisers • The materials needed for the spirit cup fundraiser are on their way, I should have them by the end of this week. • I will post beginning and ending dates for that fundraiser on my web site once I receive and distribute the materials. • The profit has changed to a sliding scale that starts at $5 (I believe). • I will post the specifics on my web site.
