  3. 1. Name of Project: ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION FOR THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS (Ordinance: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE COMPENSATION FOR THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS)

  4. Purpose of Project: The purpose of this project is to investigate and research compensation for the salaries of Mayor and City Council Members of comparable Alabama Cities. This information will be used to make a well-informed decision when establishing the salaries for Mayor and City Council for the City of Semmes 2012-2016 term.

  5. Specific Project Information:Tables and detailed information to follow this slide.

Data was obtained from the Alabama League of Municipalities Website and phone calls to each municipality • This is a comprehensive list of all of the cities in Alabama between the size (in population) of 2,450 to 4,000. • This allows for a 15% decrease to a 40% increase in population for the City of Semmes over the next 4 years. • Bayou la Batre (2,558) and Citronelle (3,905) are the two Mobile County cities that fall into this range

  9. Estimated Timeline (Start/Completion Date:These proposed Mayor and Council Member Annual Compensation Packages would be effective October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2016. The incoming Mayor and Council would be responsible for determining the 2016-2020 compensation packages.
