  4. Note Taking: Further Development • Skill To Be Developed: ELA Writing • Sub-skills To Be Developed: • Identifying salient ideas and keywords in written materials • Organizing information • Synthesizing and summarizing ideas

  5. Note Taking: Further Development • Teacher: Mr. Moore • Student Population: 20 students selected from E1 • Goal: Investigate how an English instructor can benefit students by using data as part of the decision-making process in an English class

  6. Note Taking: Wider Implementation • Skill To Be Developed: ELA Writing • Teachers: The Note Taking Team (NTT) • Two teachers from each of the following departments: • English • Mathematics • Science • Social Studies

  7. Note Taking: Wider Implementation • Student Population: Students in the Note Taking Team teachers’ classes • Goal: Investigate how an instructor can benefit students by using data as part of the decision-making process across the curricula

Note Taking: Wider Implementation • CFI Team will visit department meetings to present information about last year’s project and to elaborate on the process the team used to implement it: • Diagnostic assessment • Creating a goal and define the target population • Ongoing assessment • Revision of curriculum and pedagogy

  12. Writing Style Guide: Further Development • Goal: The CFI Inquiry Team will work with teachers and administrators to edit the guide and add more information from all departments. We will then encourage the use of the guide in classrooms.

  13. Cross Curricular Collaboration • Skill To Be Developed: Making connections across disciplines • Teachers: • Two teachers of American Literature • Two teachers of U.S. History • Two additional academic teachers • Two additional studio teachers

Cross Curricular Collaboration • Student Population To Be Followed: TBD, based on teacher involvement • Goal: The CFI Inquiry Team will investigate possibilities of interdisciplinary projects between studio and academic classes, as well as multiple academic areas. The team will articulate academic expectations across curricula that will enrich core knowledge.

  19. Technology • Create staff development opportunities by promoting intervisitations in classes where teachers are using technology; facilitate follow-up discussions about technology as a tool for effective teaching

Technology • Use technology to increase communication: • Support the teachers through ongoing PDs to develop subject-based web pages • Help teachers develop online discussion forums for their students • Increase communication via e-mail between teachers and students using the Daedalus system (PD)
