  2. Our vision • Students and teachers thriving on the teaching and learning process • Relationships – knowing ourselves, our students and our community • The 5 Rs in abundance • No limits! A sense of possibility for all – inspiration and creativity • Looking after ourselves – and each other • Excellent practice shared within and beyond the Academy

  3. Our Values We aim to promote: • Open doors and open minds • Receptiveness to – and critique of - current research, initiatives and trends for our unique context • A clear sense that we are ‘in it together’

  4. An explicit appreciation of the unique and diverse roles we play in achieving common goals. • Active celebration of what we do well – as individuals and as a whole.

  5. Open acknowledgement of what we’d like to do better – and dialogue around how • A sense of optimism and possibility within current and realistic local and national contexts

  6. We do NOT represent • Gimmicks or tokenism • Temporary foci • Judgment • The perfect teacher! ‘We know best’ • ‘We know the answers’ • A political view

  7. We aim to: Act as facilitators and promoters in the accurate identification of and active sharing of good practice Listen and model collaboration, reflection and open communication.

  8. Student Learning Leaders • Provide valuable access to the most important voices of all - and reminder of why we’re here • Listen to other students and promote of excellent practice • Provide mouthpiece for our student body • Offer role models to other students

  9. Proposals for Student Learning Leaders Agora / Plaza ‘Helpdesk’ Learning mentors to younger students Focus groups with younger students Contributions to newsletters

  10. Student Learning Leaders are NOT Perfect students! Here to pass judgment on lessons, teachers or departments. Superior to other students Led to believe they can ‘have what they want’
