  7. Building a Toolbox: What do BTO Schools Report As “Keys to Success” Innovative ways to structure time (schedules, PD time) and create collaborative time. Not only working harder, but working smarter AND harder. Collaboration, strategic focus, targeted work, use of data. Cohesive and focused system instead of a set of disconnected initiatives. Building a Toolbox: What do BTO Schools Report As “Keys to Success” Technology: tools for instruction (smart boards, homework sites, calculation tools, laptops/Netbooks) Supportive and engaged school boards ISD provides good supports AND school/district take advantage of those supports. 10. Traverse Bay Area BTO Example: Crystal Lake Elementary School in Benzonia was identified as being the top performer in its “cluster” of similar schools and also outperformed its predicted outcome (thus identified in both studies). BTO Lookup Tool 2011 TTB Lookup Tool

  11. How to leverage BTO schools Identify your school and cluster using the 2011 BTO Lookup tool. Identify the highest-performing schools in those clusters; investigate what they do. Utilize the 2011 TTB Lookup tool to understand your own school’s data and results. Watch for statewide events where BTO Best Practices are highlighted.
