    2. In the presence of God The path of life The fullness of joy Pleasures forevermore Christians would certainly agree But sometimes we are not as close to God as we should be To get closer to God, we need to set the Lord before us

Set the Lord before you through God’s creation Let nature help you draw close to God Ps 19:1-2 Nature tells of His glory and knowledge Rom 1:20 Nature shows His eternal power and divine nature Understanding God helps you get closer to God Just as understanding your spouse helps you get closer

Set the Lord before you through God’s creation Examples of others using creation to draw closer to Him Isaac – Gen 24:63 He meditated in the fields Jesus – Mt 14:23 He went into the mountains to pray Walking alone at eve and viewing the skies afar, Bidding the darkness come to welcome each silver star I have a great delight in the wonderful scenes above, God in His power and might is showing His truth and love.

Set the Lord before you through God’s revelation Examples of others using God’s word to draw closer to Him Ps 119:92-93, 105, 147-148 God’s word drawing him closer to God Jesus – Mt 4:4, 7, 10 God’s word used to ward off the Tempter Sitting alone at eve and dreaming the hours away, Watching the shadows falling now at the close of day; God in His mercy comes with His word He is drawing near, Spreading His love and truth around me and everywhere.

    7. Set the Lord before you through your prayers Closeness requires 2-way communication God has revealed Himself through His word We must reveal ourselves through our prayers Heb 4:14-16 We draw close to God in prayer and receive mercy

Set the Lord before you through your prayers Others used prayer to draw close to God David – Ps 32:3-6 All should seek Him now when He can be found Jesus – Matt 26:36-44 Draw even closer in prayer in times of trouble Closing my eyes at eve and thinking of heaven’s grace, Longing to see my Lord, yes, meeting Him face to face; Trusting Him as my all wheresoever my footsteps roam, Pleading with Him to guide me on to the spirit’s home.

    9. Set the Lord before you through your fellowship There is strength in numbers – Eccl 4:9-12 Our daily duty to encourage one another – Heb 3:12-13 Our duty to assemble together – Heb 10:24-25

Set the Lord before you through your fellowship Others who became closer to God by being closer to each other The early church – Acts 4:23-31; 12:12 In the face of persecution A foretaste of heaven – Rev. 7:9-17 Oh! For a home with God, a place in His courts to rest, Sure in a safe abode with Jesus and the blest; Rest for a weary soul once redeemed by the Savior’s love, Where I will be pure and whole and live with my God above.

    11. Conclusion Do you desire to draw closer to God? Then “set the Lord before you” by Contemplating nature Meditating on God’s word Spending time in prayer Having fellowship with other Christians

    12. Psalm 16:11 You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is the fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
