They also have the knowledge to diagnose and treat problems that occur with your teeth, mouth and gums. Modern technology and tools are what they use to treat dental problems and they use equipment like drills, scalpels and other tools. Similar to surgeons they are required to use protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses and masks. This prevents the spread of germs as well. Some common tasks that they are required to deal with are as listed below: ● Filling cavities ● Removing tooth decay and plaque ● Putting fillings ● Removing damaged tooth What Does A Cosmetic Dentist Do? A cosmetic dentist handles various types of procedures from minor to major surgeries. Listed below are some of the procedures that they have to handle: ● Teeth Whitening - is one of the most common procedures and it is one of the cheapest procedures as well. Many people turn to teeth whitening due to staining on their teeth from food, drinks and habits such as smoking. Teeth whitening is basically bleaching the surface of teeth which whitens the teeth and allows for a whiter smile. There are other whitening alternatives such as special toothpaste and white strips however getting your teeth whitened professionally is the most efficient way to get it whitened.

  3. Dental Crowns - is basically something placed over damaged or decayed teeth, it is a dental cap that can prevent a broken tooth from breaking or used cosmetically to cover any teeth that are seriously stained. It is typically used during some of their procedures to cover the procedure such as dental bridges or dental implants. ● Dental Implants - Used to replace teeth. The dentist screws a screw to the jaw to give it support. The implant is then placed into the bone socket of the missing tooth. ● Dental Bonding - This is when the cosmetic dentist applies a moldable resin and they trim, shape and polish it to blend into the surface of the patient's tooth. A dentist handles the health of your mouth to ensure that all your teeth are healthy hence everything they do including the procedures are to clean and get rid of anything that could affect the overall hygiene level of your mouth while a cosmetic dentist focuses and ensures that your teeth are always looking at their best potential. Hence most of their procedures are about changing the way things look unlike a dentist where their procedures are to remove anything that is unhealthy.
