This feature was added in 2010 and then again from 2012. This tool allows you to create an automatic backup of your company file and revive data. In this blog, we will see two methods to recover lost QuickBooks company files with the help of this tool. There are specific QuickBooks components that you need to be aware of to recover QuickBooks company files. Make sure to check them out as well.

  2. Methods To Recover Lost QuickBooks Company Files Method 1: Utilize Original .TLG File With QBW.adrFile This is one of the original methods to recover lost company files in QuickBooks. Implement the steps given below to resolve this error by this method: Make a new folder. Name it QBTest. Access the folder where the company file is saved. Copy the associated .tlg file. Paste it into the test folder on your desktop. Now to verify transactions and to run Verify Data Utility, select Folder And Search Options in the Windows Explorer. Choose File Name Extension and untick the Hide Extensions for understood file types.  Open the Data Recovery tool now. Copy the .QBW.adr file from the QBTest Folder and choose Rename. Delete .adr at the end of the file. There are mainly two methods to recover lost QuickBooks company files with the auto data recovery tool. The steps for both these methods are given below.

  3. Open QuickBooks. Open company file saved on QBTest. Run QuickBooks Verify Data Utility to ensure the integrity of file. Transfer the copy to the original location. In case it’s damaged, move it to a different location. Try the next method if these steps don’t resolve your issues.

  4. Method 2: .QBW.adr and .TLG.adr Files This is the final method to resolve lost data with the auto data recovery tool. Follow the steps given below: Only transactions up to 12 hours can be resolved with this. Create new folder QBTest. Open the folder QuickBooksAutoDataRecovery. Paste the .TLG.adr and .QBW.adr files to the QBTest folder. Make sure the Windows are configured to show hidden files. In the QBTest folder, remove the .adr file from the end. This creates .QBW and .TLG files. Open QuickBooks and follow all the steps after this mentioned for the above method.
