  3. Unit stds Consultant Scopes and writes unit standards with SMEs. Finalises unit stds & qualifications after narrow consultation and signs off with Focus Groups. Coordinates unit stds & qualifications content on the website. Responsible for INSETA’s OBE course. Module 1 teaches developing materials against unit standards, also receives feedback on unit stds from trainers - for reviews. Meets with Industry for advocacy, queries and capacity building iro unit stds & qualifications related issues. Consults with Industry bodies i.e. FSB, BHF, CMS, etc.on big issues impacting unit std & qualification development. Conducts Industry surveys iro career path and articulation for Insurance & Investment Qualifications. SGB Coordinator Serves on the SGB to coordinate the unit standards writing and qualification registration activities of the SGB. Accesses SMEs and Industry Contacts for developing unit standards. Arranges Focus Group Sessions to scope, write, critique and sign off unit standards. Communicates draft unit stds & qualifications for comment, collates information for action. Keeps records for future contacts and for Registration Process Reports. Responds to unit standards and Qualifications queries. Unit Standards & Qualifications Project

  4. Unit Standards Generation Process • I & I SGB: Insurance and Investment Standards Generating Body: Develops Unit Standards & Qualifications using Industry Subject Matter Experts: SMEs. Members represent the whole Sector and ensure unit stds & qualifications are fit for purpose for training and education in all sub sectors. • Unit Standards are written by the Unit Standards & Qualifications consultant following the SAQA prescribed format, and are approved by INSETA’s ETQA: Education and Training Quality Assurance body: INSQA and then are registered on the NQF, the National Qualification Framework by SAQA the South african Qualification Authority. • Unit Standards are written by Focus Groups of SMEs who provide correct content iro knowledge, skills, values and attitudes expressed as outcomes in each unit standard. • Focus Groups of SMEs decide on the credit value of unit stds they develop according to notional hours required to acheve competence. • Level Descriptors are followed to peg unit standards at each level of cognitive complexity of learning according to the NQF.
