What’s Changed Since Last Year? • Leaders quadrant is a lot more crowded • RSA received a really good ranking Why? • Gartner changed the weight on their positioning metrics compared to last year and this resulted in the entry of more vendors into the top spot • RSA was heavily penalized last year for the breach of their systems. This year Gartner gave them points for recovering from that and also recognized their market share. • Nevertheless, Gartner cited numerous cautions against RSA which reflect that they have many weaknesses

Beating RSA – Competitive Points • If I’m asked why RSA got such a good position, what do I say? • Keep it simple! • The reason is for RSA’s position is that the company was heavily penalized last year for the breach of their systems. This year Gartner gave them points for recovering from that and also recognized the fact that they have the largest market share. • But don’t forget to note that Gartner cited numerous cautions against RSA which reflect that they have many weaknesses: • RSA has no cloud-based service • RSA Authentication Manager has no native identity federation support • RSA Authentication Manager lacks reporting capabilities • RSA’s offering is siloed: customers need to purchase different platforms for authentication, risk-based auth and auth for cloud applications
