  5. The Early Development Instrument • Created in the late 90’s by Dan Offord and Magdalena Janus • A population-based assessment of children’s development • Teacher completed • A reflection of early experiences • Validated across populations

  6. The EDI is NOT • Designed for use at the individual level; data is interpreted at the group level, i.e. for a school, health area or neighbourhood • Intended for use as a clinical diagnostic toolor to prescribe individual education plans
