Online nursing programs are becoming more popular as colleges try to accommodate more people, and more people search for ways to further their education. With more people working their way through school it has become harder to fit classes into the work schedule. Not every job is willing to work around a class schedule either. That puts some in a hard spot of wanting to get classes, but needing to work. There really wasn't an easy answer for this until the internet became a way of life for many. With the internet they are able to take classes and still work a full-time schedule if they want to.
There are still a couple of glitches with the online nursing programs. Having a high-speed connection is one of them. Many of the online classes will require that you have a certain operating system (some might only work with particular servers) and they might also require that you have certain programs like Adobe Flash. You could still run into problems if you have a dial-up connection even if you have everything else you need. Some features might not work at all if you have a slow connection and that can make it a little more difficult for you.
There is a limit to the online nursing programs as well. You will most likely not find a program for classes to start into nursing. These require so much for hands-on training that it would be impossible to do it with a web class. What you most likely see is programs and classes to further your education after you have become a registered nurse. The LPN classes and the RN classes require hands-on training to teach you certain skills you will need while working as a nurse. Because of this they will most likely not be found on the web. If you do find one, it will probably be a split class where you have your lectures on the computer but still have to go to the lab for so many hours as well.
As you can see, the possibilities are many. There are a variety of different online nursing programs set up to help people. While most of them are designed to help beginner nurses further their education while they get practical experience on the job that does not mean those will be the only ones you find. There are also the split classes where part is on the computer and part is in a lab. It all depends on what the colleges are capable of in your areas as to which they will offer. Not every area will be able to offer the split classes, and some colleges are strictly internet universities that offer the higher level classes to those who are already nurses. Remember when you are using these programs to ensure that they are accredited for the classes you want to take.
