Make a choice • Do I really need the high school diploma? • Many colleges and universities do not require the diploma for admissions if you have earned a two year transfer degree. • Check on the university or college you plan to attend in the future to determine if the diploma is necessary or not. • How long would it take me to earn the diploma? • In some cases it might take an extra 1 to 2 years to earn the diploma depending on your English level.

Diploma Requirements • High School Core courses • These classes are usually not transferable and only count toward the high school diploma • State of Washington required project • You will need to compile a culminating project/portfolio as part of the high school completion program • Testing Required • You will need to take either an SAT (standardized test for college admissions ) or ACT (American College Testing) • Scores for the SAT: 350 (Reading) 380 (Writing) 470 (Math)**** • Scores for the ACT: 13 (Reading) 15 (Writing) 19(Math) **** . Previous academic work • -Transcripts from 9Th -12Th grade • -Transcripts must be translated and certified originals • ****Score information taken form OSPI (State of Washington)

  4. High School Diploma without High School completion • Associate Degree Earns a High School Diploma • Complete an associate degree (AA, AS or AAS degree) • Turn or be 21 years of age • When you turn 21 years of age, you are automatically eligible to earn the high school diploma. • Apply for graduation requesting both your associate degree and high school diploma.  Your diploma will be issued by Highline Community College.
