  2. ICNA Relief Canada is a not-for-profit charity organization. • It is devoted to global humanitarian relief and development, committed to alleviate human sufferings, in emergency and disaster situations around the World; specifically in Canada, Africa & Asia.

  3. Mission Statement • ICNA Relief Canada’s mission is to strengthen the bond of humanity by serving all those in need, in Canada & around the World, regardless of race, colour, religion, or cultural background, by responding & offering humanitarian services as well as catering to casualties of social and economic turmoil, victims of hunger, natural disasters, war, and other catastrophes.

  4. Projects • In order to achieve its objectives, ICNA Relief Canada implements several projects. These projects can be divided into: • Domestic and International.

DOMESTIC PROJECTS Muslim Family Services (MFS) • Muslim Family Services (MFS) was established in 2005 with the aim of meeting the social services, training and health needs of GTA Muslim families. The specific objectives included to: • Provide family and individual counselling, crisis intervention, family support and referral services as needed

DOMESTIC PROJECTS Muslim Family Services (MFS) • Educate the community and enhance awareness regarding vital issues and problems through workshops and info groups • Provide information and linking the clients to appropriate community resources • On the average, each year around 100 individuals/families benefit from Muslim Family Services.

DOMESTIC PROJECTS Food Bank • ICNA Relief Food Bank is a community-run initiative first launched in Mississauga in 2005. • The vision of ICNA Relief Food Bank is ‘Feed the Hunger and Share the Bounty’. • These Food Banks provides free non-perishable food items to needy and poor of the community irrespective of any ethnicity, religion or race.

  8. DOMESTIC PROJECTS Food Bank • Applicants must meet the established financial-need criteria to register with the ICNA Relief Food Bank. • Food baskets are given according to the family size. The approximate minimal cost of a food basket ranges from $25 to $50 per family. • Mostly, Food Bank depends on local food drives in the community, mosques, online food drives and community grocery shops.

  9. DOMESTIC PROJECTS Food Bank • The Mississauga Food Bank serves Peel -Halton region. Currently, approximately 110 families are registered with Mississauga food bank. • The Ottawa Food Bank was launched in September 2007. Around 400 individuals are currently registered.

  10. DOMESTIC PROJECTS Food Bank • The Thorn cliffFood Bank opened approximately a year ago. • Scarborough, Calgary and Edmonton, Milton and VancouverFood Banks: have opened up within the last 3 years.

  11. DOMESTIC PROJECTS • Emergency Relief and Financial Help (ER)The goal of this program is to provide financial assistance to the needy families to meet their emergency requirements such as rental and utility bills payment. This help is offered on a one time basis in most of the cases.

  12. DOMESTIC PROJECTS Kids Care Services (KCS) • The educational component of the program deals with parenting, child care, techniques to deal with emotions and conflicts, activities at early age etc. • The second aspect of the program is to help sick and needy children within the Community.

  13. DOMESTIC PROJECTS Working together program (WTP) • The objective of this program is to develop and coordinate working relationships with other NGOs, and welfare organizations and Mosques in redressing problems of the community

DOMESTIC PROJECTS Youth Leadership and Development Program (YLDP) • Every year ICNA Relief organizes leadership training program for Muslim Youth in Canada. • The purpose is to give training to our youth in the areas of character building, effective communication, teamwork, program planning and resource building.

DOMESTIC PROJECTS Youth Leadership and Development Program • The program is designed to impart practical skills needed to become self- fulfilled, dynamic and results-oriented youth leaders. • The YLDP, conducted during summer, consists of a series of seminars, workshops and field projects. • It’s a 20-hour course spread over 5 days (usually on Saturday or Sunday).

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS • Education for poor and needy Free education for refugees, rural education programs in Pakistan, Kashmir, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Sudan and in Afghan refugee camps • Health Care Program Medicine distribution, Ambulances, and Medical centers in rural area of Pakistan, Kashmir, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Sudan and Kenya Africa and in Afghan refugee camps

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS • Water for Life Providing drinking water in drought affected areas of Pakistan, Kenya and Bangladesh. • Zabiha Program The Zabiha program is carried out each year in almost 50 countries where Zabiha meat is distributed among the deserving and poor Muslim. • Skill Development program is being run in Afghan and Kashmir refugees’ camps

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS Orphan Sponsorship Program Orphan Sponsorship Program • ICNA Relief Canada helps orphaned and abandoned Muslim children in 10 countries around the world • The program is executed by matching donor sponsorship for each child that takes care of their basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, education and health.

  19. INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS Orphan Sponsorship Program Orphan Sponsorship Program • The orphan sponsorship program started in 2003. It has since grown to a widespread program beyond North America and has spread in 10 countries around the world including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kashmir, Kenya, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Somalia & Kosovo. • The total number of children sponsored in these countries ismore than 1400.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS Orphan Sponsorship Program Partner Organizations • These children have been sponsored through different partner organizations that are established in the above mentioned countries. • The combined support of ICNA Relief Canada and its partner organizations ensures that the basic needs for food, shelter, health, and education of the children are met in a safe and caring environment.
