  29. Capacity Building. • Workshops are conducted at divisional level for all the assistant directors and education officers and field staff in the beginning of the academic year • Intensive and effective training of cooks is conducted in the beginning before June at cluster and Taluk level.   30. Best Practices. • Regular health check up by Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya Programme. (99% schools covered.) as Masacharane (Monthly) programme through out the state. • Only Women are appointed as cooks • Inspection carried out by education officers of one district to another along with assistant directors has helped in better Implementation of the scheme. • Cooks are appointed by three member committee consisting of SDMC President, Gram Panchayat and the Head Master. Conti….. • Head cook is paid additional Rs. 100/- from state fund because she maintains records at the school level. • Job card is prescribed for the cooks in the schools. • Kitchen gardens are maintained in the schools having land and water facility. • 84% of schools use LPG for cooking and the expenses for the LPG is incurred within the cooking cost. • The state is providing Micro nutrients such as vit-A, Iron folic acid and deworming tablets from the state fund. Community participation. • Mid day meal scheme is implemented with full decentralization at village & school level. • VEC is fully authorized to implement the Mid-day meal scheme at school level. • There is full involvement of PRI Institutions • In Municipal Corporation & council at Urban level by Ward Education committee.   40. ISSUES • State has revised cooking norms with effect from01.12.2010. • Honorarium to CCH in Aided Schools not paid. • Proper Grievance Redressal Mechanism is not in Place. • Poor Utilization of Food Grains in Urban Areas. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

  41. The MDM Logo should be Widely Publicized. It may be Painted at prominent Places on the outside wall of the school. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
