  2. Why Do Pipes Burst in Summer – Stallion Plumbing The need for a water main break does not happen only in the winter, in fact there are many types of water mains that can break in summer, especially the plastic one. There are three reasons that can cause a water main to burst in summer: • Temperatures warm up faster, causing the freeze/thaw cycle • Thawing snow also leads to freezing of the ground. • The ground is weak from thawing, which leads to a weak pipe that bursts • The thawing and freezing happens simultaneously Natural gas pipes burst in the summer as well. If you have a gas line, you should check the weather forecast and make sure your gas meter is insulated, as they both react to the high temperature.

  3. Check the Road Conditions before Plowing You might hear a lot of people say they always have plenty of time before their snowstorm hit, but is that really the case? You should also check the road conditions before you go. Yes, if there is plenty of time before you needs to get somewhere, you might not need to prepare, but this might not be true for you. If you are going on a road trip or something along those lines, it's always better to go a day early rather than a day late. There are no guarantee of being there when the roads are covered with snow, so always be ready to go early.

  4. Do not Travel during Severe Winter Storms There is nothing more frustrating than being stuck on the road during a blizzard. If you decide to venture out during the storms, make sure your car is stocked with necessary supplies. You should have a bag full of water, batteries, a flashlight, food, blankets, and a radio, as well as warm clothing and a blanket if it's below freezing. This can be a challenge if you are not prepared. You might have to leave your house by 4 AM or even before that, which means getting some snacks and other essentials you might need for your journey. It's not safe to travel in the winter storms. Make sure you take a deep breath before you tackle any of these tasks.
