CONCEPTUAL LAYOUT Groundwater from Omdel 5 Mm3/a Desalination Plant NamWater: 25 Mm3/a 20 000 m3 Reservoir Seawater Intake 90 Mm3/a Pump Station 25 Mm3/a Brine Disposal 35 Mm3/a Mile 6 Salt Works 14 km, 1200 mm Pipeline 30 Mm3/a Atlantic Ocean Swakopmund 20 000 m3 Reservoir Rössing Arandis & Valencia 4 Mm3/a Swakopmund Base Langer Heinrich and others

DISCHARGE SPEC’S • Brine disposal: RO concentrate, backwash water and other waste waters excluding sewage (only liquids and excluding any solids) diffused over 400-500 meters in sea • Backwash handling: capable to remove all solids prior to liquid discharge • Solids disposal: solid residue from backwash to be collected and removed to approved solid waste site

  11. Contract: EIA & EMP Appointment of the SAIEA as the EIA & EMP External Reviewer to May 2009 Appointment of CSIR for the EIA & EMP. Contract period: Oct 2008 to May 2009 Contract : Power Supply of 20 MW Application lodged with NamPower: August 2008 Project Financing: Minister of MAWF appointed Joint Ministerial Task Team in November 2008 to recommend Project Financing to Cabinet by end March 2009. Progress to Date .
