  1. Welcome to Mr. Walker’s Homebase class! Room # M104 8th Grade Team Chili Pepper Social Studies

  2. So Who the Heck am I? • Parts I – IV on the slides to follow will explain who I am! • Part I – My Family • Part II – Where I Have Lived • Part III – My interests • Part IV – My qualifications and experience.

  3. I. My Family • I got married on New Years Eve, a little over two and a half years ago. My wife is a teacher at Picture Rocks Intermediate School here in Marana.

  4. 2. I have no kids, but three summers ago I got a Shih Tzu puppy. 3. I am the youngest person in my direct family and my extended family.  All of my first cousins are older than me.

  5. 4. I have two older sisters.  One of them is a pharmacist that lives in Tucson, my other sister is a middle school P.E. teacher that lives near Casa Grande. 5. You may have to get used to hearing many funny stories about my grandparents. They are both 94 years old. 6. My mom lives in Kingman, Arizona.  My dad passed away in 2003.

  6. II. Where I Have Lived • I was born in the small town of Kingman, Arizona. • When I was three years old, my father got a job in a gold mine in Battle Mountain, Nevada. • We moved back to Kingman when I was five.

  7. 4. I lived in Kingman until I graduated high school. I then moved down to Tucson when I enrolled at the University of Arizona. 5. I lived in Tucson through college. I moved back to Kingman soon afterward, where I taught my first two years. 6. I moved back to Tucson shortly before my wife and I got married.

  8. Part III. My Interests • I love listening to any kind of music, especially different genres of rock. • My favorite sport is basketball, I enjoy watching the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Wildcats. I enjoy shooting hoops for fun. • I love spending time with my family.

  9. 4. I like any type of trivia! 5. I have a deep love for food! 6. I hold a black belt in Shoto Kan Karate. 7. I love history! DUH! But you will hear plenty about that! Just because I did Karate does not give you any reason to ever dare to call me “Walker Texas Ranger!”

  10. Part IV: My Qualifications and Experience • I have taught students from 6th – 12th grade. • This is my third year at Marana Middle School. • I have taught at Tucson High Magnet School, Kingman High School, Secrist Middle School (TUSD) and of course Marana Middle School. • I am certified to teach any grade from 7-12 in History or Social Studies.

  11. 5. This year, I will begin working on my college master’s degree. My new degree will allow me to teach evening classes to college students. I will either teach them how to teach or I will teach them college level social studies.
