  2. NORTH THAILAND MOTORBIKE RIDE 7 days, 6 nights Detailed Itinerary While pilgrims have a divine purpose you don't need one to come to this Lanna Kingdom. Eternally blissful, Chiang Mai is a sacred haven for every soul in 'wanderment.' Earnest desire will see you arrive at the airport from where our representative will drive you to the hotel. Spend the evening sipping traditional Thai refreshments with fellow travellers and watching a tour presentation which will unveil all that's in store for you. Discussions on itinerary, group riding rules and local riding environment, will prep you for the much awaited tour. Meals - NA Day 1 In the morning we give you time to familiarise yourself with your motorcycle before we set off. We start our tour from Chiang Mai and after about 50 kms we leave the highway and spend the rest of the day enjoying some exhilarating twists in the rural roads. Our first stop is at the Vachiratharn Waterfall - an impressive and powerful 80 m high waterfall. We then proceed to climb to the top of Doi Inthanon, which is at 2,565 metres, and is the highest mountain in Thailand. We continue our ride to the city of the "Three Mists", otherwise known as Mae Hong Son, which is located along the banks of the Pai River, close to the border with Myanmar (formerly Burma). Riding Distance : 300 km Meals - Breakfast, Dinner Day 2 We start our day with a pleasant boat ride on the Pai River to visit the Karen Long Neck village. The Karen is a tribal minority, which historically lived in the hills on the Myanmar side of the border. Some of their women wear heavy brass rings around their necks, forearms, and shins. We then set out for the famously chic town of Pai. The road is popular for having 1,864 bends of varying sharpness. The road passes through some beautiful mountainous scenery. On the way we do a little side trip to Ban Rak Thai (literally "the Thai- loving village"). This was built around a lake on the Myanmar border. About 800 people, mainly Chinese, settled here after the communists took over China and some of the buildings here have a distinctive Chinese appearance. In the afternoon we arrive in Pai and relax in our hotel before we dine on some delicious food. You can eat local food or western food, depending on the restaurant. In the evening you can enjoy the Walking Street Market. Riding Distance : 107 km Day 3 E-mail : adventure@trip360.com Meals - Breakfast Call:1800 123 6898 Website: http://www.trip360.com/biking 2/11

  3. NORTH THAILAND MOTORBIKE RIDE 7 days, 6 nights We have another great day of riding ahead of us. Today we complete the remaining 762 turns over the mountains to Mae Taeng. From Mae Taeng we follow the freeway for a short while before we turn up on a steep zig-zag asphalt road to Doi Ang Khang. The Doi Ang Khang Royal Agricultural Station is a research project involved in planting fruit trees, vegetables and other crops under the patronage of the King. By afternoon we reach Wat Thaton. It's a small town on the banks of the Kok River, sharing a border with Myanmar. Just before we check in to our hotel, we take a minute to enjoy the spectacular view from Wat Thaton that looks over the town and the vicinity. Riding Distance : 300 km Meals - Breakfast Day 4 Detailed Itinerary Today we ride along the gentle hills through rice paddies and farm villages. We follow the Kok River for a while before we turn left to drive up to Doi Mae Salong on some twisty mountain roads. Doi Mae Salong is a Chinese settlement which was built by a division of the Chinese Nationalist Army that refused to surrender to the Chinese communists after the Nationalist Kuomintang government was routed in 1949. You can enjoy the native Chinese cuisine, lovely houses with flowers and countless tea plantations. We then continue cruising towards the mighty Mekong River to the legendary Golden Triangle where the three borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. We swap the motorcycles for a boat and explore the river region. We even take a short break in Laos (as no visa is needed) before returning to our motorbikes. Then it's time for another short trip to Chiang Rai via the freeway.
