  2. A few rules of thumb…. • Use an alarm clock • Be prepared… • Set goals • P & P and R & R • Use a calendar • Don’t be surprised • Be friendly • Visit SSS(TRIO) !!!

  3. At all times have with you: -something to write with - your instructor’s contact information -your schedule - school supplies And… -a good attitude! What do I need?

  4. Get support…. • Support at school: • Academic Skills Center • Student Support Services • Attend Workshops • Talk to your counselor • Classmates • Study Groups • Instructors • Tutoring

  5. Support at home: • Have family time & school time • If you have children – get them involved • Support from parents and/or significant others • Friends • Mentors

  6. Encouraging words…. • Success • Security • Education • Degree • Graduation • Accomplishment • Achievement • Victory

  8. Life is an infinite shade of grays & colors. What about all of the events that turned out positive? Look for the positive & think of the negative as insignificant. Is it logical to read people’s minds? Everyone makes mistakes. See a problem from someone else’s point of view. I would like to…I wish I would… Believe the compliments and they will become real. Every event has many causes… How do we change our thoughts?
