  2. Knowing God through History How could we tell if God has had a hand in guiding a historical event ? Eg was He involved in preventing King Henry’s VIII first wife from having a male son? If God did interfere in history, how would that change your view of Him? • To identify events in which God has changed the course of history • To explain why God does not make himself more known in History • To evaluate whether history is a good way of knowing God

  3. 1. Read the “historical coincidences”. 2. Sort them into the following groups: • Events that definitely show God interfering in human history for our good (to make us more holy) • Events that might show God’s interference, but might just be lucky accidents • Events that show God is NOT interfering, or are unlucky accidents • Are there any events that show that God is interfering FOR EVIL ? 3. Overall, does God interfere in history for love of us? - Summarise one example that supports this idea. - Summarise one example that suggests God just lets us get on with our own lives, however bad we are. 4. What’s your conclusion? Can God’s footsteps be seen in history ? *** Why doesn’t God interfere more often in history, to stop evil and make people believe and know Him as their loving Father ?
