  3. Who was involved? • Troops from Canada’s 2nd Canadian Corps • Move north quickly • Dutch people are very excited to see Canadian troops and to be free

  5. The Drive to Freedom • Three prong attack • Push comes on the right from Major General Vokes’ 4th Canadian Armoured Division • Captures town of Almelo on April 5th, 1945 • Goes back into Germany

  7. The Drive to Freedom • 2nd Division drives through the middle to capture Groningen in Northern Holland on April 16th, 1945 • 3rd Division is on the left. Their path takes them through Zutphen and continues all the way to the sea (April 18th, 1945)
