  2. About Me • Graduate Pennsylvania State University • 8 years of teaching, 7th year of teaching at EHS. • Currently Teaching English, Algebra, Social Studies, Science, and Affective Skills • Program material can be found on website

  3. English Topics of Study • Unit 1: Grammar • Unit 2: Horror/Suspense unit • The Most Dangerous Game • The Lottery • Horror Comparison Essay • Unit 3- To Kill a Mockingbird • Unit 4- Persuasive Essay • 12 Angry Men • Unit 5- Romeo and Juliet

  4. Grading • Grades are done based on assignment point value. • Most homework assignments are worth 10-20 points while class work is worth 10 pts. • Major assignments which include tests and large projects are worth 100-200 points depending on the project • Grades are updated weekly and each student’s grade can be checked through the Home Access Center

  5. Class Schedule • Preview of vocabulary • Guided activity- graphic organizer, reading out loud, comprehension questions • Review of material • Class work • Comprehension questions • Homework assignment given

  6. Absences • Students need to check with me before or after class on missed work • Must show an excused absence to receive full credit for absence work • Work must be completed and handed in within 3 days after the absence

  7. Homework • Most periods students are provided time to complete some of their homework in class • Assigned 2-3 times per week • Needs to be handed in on due dates • If late will get 1/2 credit • Homework assignments can be accessed through homework hotline at ext 600

  8. Behavioral Expectations • Task- Stay on task and complete all assigned tasks. • Interactions- Ignore negative behavior and focus on interacting appropriately with staff and other students. • Directions- Follow directions given to you by any staff member. • Area- Be in your assigned seat or area at all times. • Language- Use appropriate language and manners throughout the school day.
