  4. ECEElevators • 1.Hydraulic lifts use the principles of hydraulic to pressurize an above ground or in ground piston to raise and lower the car. Hydralic lifts are cheaper, but installing cylinders greater than a certain length becomes impractical for very high lifts hoistways. • 2. The Vacuum Elevator combines a smooth vertical cylinder with a coaxial car that moves up and down through air suction. The principle operation of the elevator is based on the ascending push generated by the difference between the atmospheric pressure on the top of the car and the atmospheric pressure under the car. • 3. Traction elevator use a counterweight to offset the weight of the cab and occupants with the desigm, traction elevators are most common type of elevator. • 4. Machine-room-less elevators utilize a gearless traction machine located in the hoistway. The use of a counterweight assists the machine in turning the elevator sheave, which moves the cab through the hoistway .
