  1. Ephesians 2 His Building Plan

  2. Out of Step – Dead in Self

  3. In an Out of Step World

  4. Optimism towards saving the world from its present plight can, surely, only come by placing our trust in God. After all, despite the fact that some well-meaning people can start good initiatives, there is always someone who is in it for themselves…(John Stott – The Bible Speaks Today)

  5. In Step with the Promise …against the sober background of the world, as we know it, Ephesians 2 stands out in contrast. Paul switches between pessimism about humankind then the heights of optimism about God. He paints a vivid contrast between what we humans are by nature and what we can become by grace.

  6. …when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved… (Ephesians 2:5) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God … (Ephesians 2:8)

  7. Butbecause of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved… (Ephesians 2:4) Butnow in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ… (Ephesians 2:13)

  8. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do… (Ephesians 2:10) His Building Project And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit… (Ephesians 2:22)
