  6. Subtract an electron + Hydrogen Ion Hydrogen ►An ion with a positive charge because it has more protons than electrons

  7. Add an electron - Fluorine Fluorine Ion ►An ion with a negative charge because it has more electrons than protons

  8. Add or subtract a neutron • What do you get? • An isotope • An isotope is a particle with extra neutrons

  9. Hydrogen isotopes Deuterium Hydrogen ►An isotope has a different number of neutrons

  10. Add another atom • What do you get? • A molecule • A molecule is 2 atoms joined together with a bond
