  2. INTRODUCTIONS Idealist Consulting Salesforce.com Foundation Partner info(at)idealistconsulting.com • Over 500 nonprofit deployments. • Salesforce.com Foundation partner for six years. • Top all time AppExchange consulting partner. • Assisted in development of the Nonprofit Starter Pack.

  3. INTRODUCTIONS: PRESENTER Hudi Falik Consultant hudi.falik(at)idealistconsulting.com • Received Salesforce Administration certification 5 years ago. • Has been working with Idealist Consulting for over 5 years. • Over 80 deployments of Salesforce.com. • Worked with six iterations of the Nonprofit Starter Pack. • Skills: configuration, data migration, training and integration.

  4. PURPOSE The Nonprofit Starter Pack was created to help nonprofits use Salesforce.com more effectively… Track and manage missions. Manage donations, grants, outreach. Track and manage contacts. Report on outcomes.

  5. STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES • All software has inherent trade-offs and the Nonprofit Starter Pack is no different. • Strengths: • Free of charge, and it works out of the box for most nonprofits. • Addresses key needs of the nonprofit business process. • Choice between 1-to-1 account to contact model or bucket account model. • Remotely updateable when code changes and bugs are fixed. • Easily uninstalled if necessary. • Weaknesses: • About 10% un-configurable. (There are some processes you can’t personalize.) • This is not an individualized configuration, in order to customize the NPSP, • you either need to do it yourself, or engage a consultant. • If you add your own code, you risk hitting the managed code and running errors. • Managed packages can't be modified (although field labels can be renamed via the translation bench).

  6. DEALING WITH INDIVIDUALS The Nonprofit Starter Pack has an option to pick one of two data models for dealing with contacts: 1-to-1 Account to Contact: Stronger reporting and integration capability. Bucket Account: Simpler “back end” and easier for user adoption. This link can help you choose which is best for you. VS

  7. FUNCTIONALITY The NPSP supports business processes for NPOs. It is broken into packages to address the following key processes… Contacts And Organizations: Tracking of individuals as well as organizations. Households: Makes it easy to group people living in the same household. Recurring Donations: Allows for tracking donations pledged over time. Relationships: Allows for the tracking of key relationships between individuals. Affiliations: Tracks relationships between individuals and organizations. Batch Data Entry: Allows batches of data to be entered to custom or standard objects.

  8. CHRONOLOGY OF INSTALLATION The NPSP should be installed in a specific order: 1. Contacts and Organizations – required, install first 2. Households – needs Contacts and Organizations 3. Recurring Donations – needs Contacts and Organizations 4. Relationships – can stand alone or work with the other three 5. Affiliations – can stand alone or work with the other three 6.
