  1. Prediction Lab Write Agenda • Review • Look at Car and Driver • Discuss lab expectations • Work on lab report

  2. Draw the flow chart for types

  3. Describe Redox Rxns

  4. Predict products of B

  5. Prediction of C

  6. Prediction of DR

  7. Predict Products of SR

  8. Predict products of D

  9. Car and Driver • Read through sample

  10. Materials and Methods - 10 • List the experiments in the order they were completed • Write everything that was done – past tense still in third person. Think about Amelia Bedelia • Do not tell me what your observations were or what they mean. • Do not tell me what to do – no recipes. • If sentence starts with number, write out in words. • Watch subject verb tense! Five drops of sodium nitrate were added.

  11. Results - 25 • Make a table: each experiment down left; reactants, pre-observations, post observations across top • Be sure to label table • Record starting materials – as name or chemical formula – must be correct • Record observations – pre and post • Color changes, ppt formed, gases released

  12. Conclusions - 25 • State starting materials and use as support for reaction type • Predict what products were formed • Use observations as support for your conclusions • Write the balanced equation for each reaction • Be sure to use subscripts and coefficients – (format, font, subscript OR type, highlight, ctrl += key) • Use g as the arrow. Highlight and change the font to wingdings 3.

  13. Introduction - 10 • Think of a real world example anything related to predictions • Funnel down with connecting sentences to research. (what research does your real world example use and show how this is similar to what will occur in this lab). Research should be a brief description of the five types of chemical reactions. • Work on flow. Read the intro (whole paper for that matter) aloud to be sure it flows and makes sense. • End with this hypothesis or one similar. If the reactants are known and a chemical reaction occurs, than the products can be determined. (don’t tell me the hypothesis is…I will know because it is the last sentence!)

  14. Final Report • Must be typed • Due tomorrow • Students procrastinate until last minute anyhow, so I’m not going to give you more time! 
