  1. Year 5 Prepare for Advent Year 5 children recently visited the Anglican Cathedral for activities to help us prepare for Advent. Enjoy our photos and reflect with us on the personal writing of some of our children.

  2. How to make an Advent Wreath : Ceri Y5

  3. We prepared this wreath while we were at the Cathedral. Do you know what the Advent Wreath symbolises? Read Ceri’s work to help you find out more.

  4. Libby really enjoyed her work at the Cathedral.

  5. We learned about the gifts brought by the wise men.

  6. Holly explains how memorable her day at the Cathedral was.

  7. We met the shepherd who led his friends to see the baby Jesus. As part of our ‘Pilgrimage’, we visited Mary’s home, Joseph’s workshop and the stable at Bethlehem, where we lit candles at the crib. We prepared a secret gift. We offered prayers at the Crib.

  8. Tom says thank you for the warm welcome we received at the Cathedral.

  9. Throughout the day, we made many different things which we could take home to help us reflect on the Christian season of Advent. Here, we are making hand-shapes to create our Class Advent Wreath. Making the flying angels was a very popular activity!

  10. Gabriel explains some of the activities he did at the Cathedral.

  11. Year 5 reflect on the true meaning of Christmas; they wait hopefully during Advent.

  12. George describes what happened in the Cathedral.

  13. Bobby is thrilled by the creative activities offered during the Advent workshops.
