  5. CTECS Role in Assessment • Facilitate and Validate the assessment processes to ensure face and content validity and reliability. • Deliver the assessments online. • Provide technical assistance and professional development to maintain and improve the system.

Establish Stakeholders, TSA Needs Assessment, and TAC through TCSG Staff Determine Priorities for Elements to be Developed, i.e., Competencies Standards Item Banks Assessments Collect and Analyze Existing Elements (R & D), i.e., Competencies Standards Item Banks Assessments Pilot Assessments via E-SESS Online Test System.   11. FBLA Project • Completing task list creation for 35 programs in the PBL side of FBLA • Developing additional task lists and aligning items for national FBLA competitions • Developing new items to meet holes in current events • Completed 32 task lists and item alignments for FBLA completion

  16. TCSG Articulation Exam Project • CTECS worked with TCSG to perform Assessment Review, Update and Development in six courses. • Administered Spring 2011 Pilot Assessments for secondary students attempting to gain articulation credit into the TCSG using E-SESS Testing System.

Potential Project-Inspiring the Future of Energy • Curriculum Background • Sustainability and Renewable Technologies Course (in VERSO) • VA State Approved CTE course • Designed by Cumberland County Public Schools and CTE Resource Center with VA-DOE Support • Renewable Energy and Green Building Design • Currently being piloted as a follow-up course to Sustainability and Renewable Technology by Cumberland County Public Schools and is on track for approval by the Virginia Department of Education in summer of 2012. • Energy Industry Fundamentals: Provided by the Center for Energy Workforce Development and currently available for no charge. This course is not recognized or validated through the Virginia Department of Education therefore, not offered for credit at this time.

Potential Project-Inspiring the Future of Energy • Objectives • Provide industry with a workforce well founded in energy fundamentals with an emphasis in renewable technology and energy efficient behavior and design • Improve the Career Pathway leading to the energy industry • Increase STEM-rich CTE courses with direct applications to energy and sustainability • Provide school divisions and technical centers information and support in implementing educational programs in sustainability and energy at all levels of K12 education • Broaden the career cluster impact of the Sustainability and Renewable Technologies course as appropriate • Write and publish a curriculum guide for Sustainability and Renewable Technologies • Offer teacher training for all three courses as requested by divisions • Develop a model for industry/education partnerships • Establish curricula that can be duplicated in other states, community colleges and training centers • Develop Industry Recognized Assessments with Certs • CTECS Experience: KY Energy Standards/Proposal and LIUNA

Potential Project-Inspiring the Future of Energy • Curriculum Background • Sustainability and Renewable Technologies Course (in VERSO) • Existing VA State Approved CTE course • Designed by Cumberland County Public Schools and CTE Resource Center with VA-DOE Support • Course explores issues that affect global citizens in the areas of economics, culture, and the environment. The course introduces students to the historic, economic, political, environmental, and cultural issues that impact the global community and its’ future. Students will address issues affecting the health of our environment and explore solutions offered by sustainable agriculture, energy efficient building design, and renewable energy sources.

Potential Project-Inspiring the Future of Energy • Renewable Energy and Green Building Design • Currently being piloted as a follow-up course to Sustainability and Renewable Technology by Cumberland County Public Schools and is on track for approval by the Virginia Department of Education in summer of 2012. • Draft Course Description: Renewable Energy and Green Building Design explores the application and fundamentals of green building principles and renewable energies. Students will become familiar with select renewable energy technologies and have hands on experience in their design and function and be introduced to foundations in installation skills. • Energy Industry Fundamentals: Provided by the Center for Energy Workforce Development and currently available for no charge. This course is not recognized or validated through the Virginia Department of Education therefore, not offered for credit at this time.
