  2. Metals are reducing agent • Metals like to lose electrons. • Loss of electron is oxidation. • Reducing agent goes trough oxidation. • Therefore metals are reducing agents. • The higher up the metal is on the chart is more reactive and stronger reducing agent

  3. The metal on top of the chart can displace the one below in a reaction

  4. Nonmetals are oxidizing agent • Group 17 are called hlogens. • As you go up the group the halogen becomes more reactive and stronger oxidizing agent. • The stronger halogen can displace the weaker halide. • Br2 + 2NaI  I2 + 2NaBr • But I2 + 2NaBr  no reaction • Bromine is stronger oxidizing agent than iodine!
