What does it involve? • During the placement, *the assessment process for IMGs is similar to that of UK trainees.  *What would be expected of these doctors in terms of their performance and targets should be based on the same standards as for UK trainees at ST 2 level initially, then at ST 3 - 4 level.  Under the Tier 5 sponsorship visa, trainees are entitled to a maximum of two years training in the UK.

  4. Entrance criteria for the RCOG IDTP • Have passed the Part 1MRCOG  exam• Must not hold Part 2MRCOG • Have an IELTS score of 7 in all 4 domains (speaking, listening, reading and writing) in the academic version of the test required.  The score must be achieved in a single sitting and the IELTS certificate should be in date at the time of employment in the UK.• Four years of supervised postgraduate practice in obstetrics and gynaecology which has been approved by the RCOG Examination Department towards Part 2 MRCOG examination (please submit letter from the Examination Department of the RCOG - eadmin@rcog.org.uk [3]);

Criteria Cont. • Have no rights of residence in the UK/EU/EEA/Switzerland• Must not have previously attempted General Medical Council’s PLAB test or registered with the UK GMC previously.• The GMC requires trainees to be engaged in medical practice for three of the last five years, including the most recent twelve months. Clinical attachments/observerships do not count.

  6. How to apply •  Application form •  Competencies •  Report from the Chairman (only) of the RCOG Representative Committee if applicable*; • Two recent professional references; one must be from the current or most recent employer; • *If there is no Representative Committee in the trainee’s country please contact the IMG administrator.

  7. Additional documentation to accompany the application • • Photocopy of a valid IELTS certificate;• A copy of the letter from the RCOG Examination Department confirming assessment of training for the Part 2 MRCOG

  8. What happens after submitting your application? • After the closing date, a Selection Panel will review all applications and identify candidates to be offered places at UK hospitals.
