  3. OOPC-12 - May 2007 Follow-up Secure GOOS as main GEOSS element (GEO-III): Active action through Oceans-United and consultants; I-GOOS as WP leader CL-06-06; GOOS involved in the Coastal CoP. Consolidate GOOS role within new TORs: I-GOOS, leader of the GOHWMS (Ocean Hazards); Capacity building (ongoing). Consolidate the global module of GOOS Priority link with J-COMM (ongoing); I-GOOS-VIII : the sustainability meeting. Organise the coastal module of GOOS (Forum, 2006): ROOS as elementary bricks of the GOOS; Proposal for the GOOS regional council (GRC); Proposal for the PICO linked to GSSC; Links with the LMEs and other programmes.

  4. OOPC-12 - May 2007 GOOS Regional Council GOOS development through ROOS: Includes the GCN; Global compliance with GOOS principles; Monitored by GRAs. Creation of the GOOS regional council : Group of « I-GOOS recognised » alliances; Reporting to I-GOOS for GRAs interests; Chair member of IGOOS board; Co-ordinating GOOS development at regional level; ToRs to be approvedd by I-GOOS-VIII. Requirement for a coastal scientific advisory : J-PICO not considered by IOC-EC-XXXIX; PICO as subsidiary body of GSSC. J-COMM liaison with GOOS: Through GSSC; J-COMM contacts in GRAs for implementation.
