  1. Accelerated Warm Up 8.16 Answer the following questions. Round your answers to the nearest hundredth. • Working alone, it takes Sue 13 hours to pick forty bushels of apples. Kim can pick the same amount in 15 hours. If they worked together, how long would it take them? • It takes Rob ten hours to clean an attic. Sam can clean the same attic in 11 hours. How long would it take them if they worked together? • Working together, Natalie and Paul can pick forty bushels of apples in 4.8 hours. Had he done it alone, it would have taken Paul 12 hours. Find how long it would take Natalie to do it alone? You can talk to your peers

  2. Practice 1.50c + 3a = y 1.50(26) + 3(31) = 132 Shaunyasold 57 tickets for a concert. She sold child tickets for $1.50 each and adult tickets for $3 each. If she collected $132. Write a system of equations that could be used to determine how many of each kind of ticket she sold. Let a represent adult tickets and c represent child tickets. How am I going to solve this problem? 1.50c + 3a a + c = 132 = 57 Solve for one of the variables and substitute Answer: c = 26 a = 31 a = (- 1.50c + 132)/3 c = (- 3a + 132)/1.5

  3. Homework Aug 16th 1) Jacob left Alisha’s house and traveled toward the town hall. One hour later Ryan left traveling 10km/h faster in an effort to catch up to him. After two hours Ryan finally caught up. Find Jacob’s average speed. 2) James drove to the train station and back. The trip there took four hours and the trip back took five hours. He averaged 28 mph on the return trip. Find the average speed of the trip there. 3) An aircraft carrier left the pier traveling east eight hours before a fishing boat. The fishing boat traveled in the opposite direction for four hours, going 5 mph slower than the aircraft carrier. The ships were then 380 miles apart. What was the aircraft carrier’s speed?

This month he performed at 3 college events, was a part of two different tours totaling $375 and competed in 2 competitions. • How much did Lane make this month? Can you create an expression that represents this amount? If you also won 500 at one of his competition, how much did he make? Create a new equation. Can you create an expression that represents this amount? 3c + 2t – 2r

  5. Penny Parker makes plastic packaging for Pez containers. A client requests Penny Parker to make a large container in the shape of a cube. The company has only 45 meters of pink plastic tubing in stock. Determine the volume of the largest possible container that Penny Parker could make for its customer.

She has a total of 5 sick days and she only took 3 this year. What was her gross annually pay?How much does she get paid per day? Create an expression that represents Venne’s salary. 38, 707 $148.87 38373 + bonus + 42x
