  4. Introduction The proposal for textbook funding was fueled by two things: • In response to students voicing the financial hardship the cost of textbooks presented at the beginning of the semester. • Identifying the cost of textbooks as a barrier to student success in the CUNY Campaign for Student Success workgroup at BMCC.

  5. Source of Funding BMCC AUXILIARY ENTERPRISE

  6. Eligibility Requirements The applicant must meet the following requirements: • BMCC Student • GPA 2.0 • File for financial aid Note: Students with a valid reason for not filing for financial aid and meet the requirements are eligible to receive funding.

  7. Application Process Students can obtain an application through the Office of Student Affairs

  8. Referring Sources • Financial Aid Office • Student Government Association • BMCC Administrative Staff & Faculty • Self

  9. Amount of Funds The amount of $350 per eligible student is based on the dollar amount given to students as a loan for textbooks while awaiting financial aid award.

  10. Allocation/Distribution • The allocation will be in the form of a loan. • Repayable loans will be distributed through the Bursar Office from a fund designated by the Office of Student Affairs.

  11. NEXT STEPS • This proposal will be forwarded to the incoming BMCC Student Government Association representatives appointed to the Auxiliary Enterprise. • The proposal will be presented to the Auxiliary Enterprise at a meeting in the Fall ’06.
