  2. What are career pathways? • A sequence of courses, usually three • In a particular field • Designed to provide in-depth knowledge of field • Prescribed by Georgia Dept. of Education • Completion of a single pathway required • Students choose their pathway

  3. Why? • GA House Bill 186 • Georgia wants its students to graduate more prepared for workforce/college • Considered beneficial use of electives • Potential for 14 to 16 electives • Provides credentialing opportunities

  5. FCHS PathwaysConstruction Credentials: Carpentry or Masonry Assessment

  6. FCHS PathwaysBusiness Credentials: Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Financial & Investment Planning

  13. FCHS Pathways • Fine Arts • Academic • Modern Languages • More information will be forthcoming on these pathways

  14. FCHS Work Based Learning (WBL) • Student placement in paid or unpaid positions • 11th or 12th Grade (min. age 16) • Defined career goal • Completed one CTAE course • Good attendance and discipline record • Recommendations from teachers • Reliable transportation and insurance • Must apply year before with Ms. DuBois • Usually two blocks per semester
