  1. Word Life of “be a gifttoone another” Is this the kind of “justice” Jesus is talking about in the Sermon on the Mount, when he explains the beatitudes? Yes, but it comes as a consequence of loving other people fully and sincerely. It means that we are living in tune with God’s plan for humanity. He wants everyone to be one family, united in love, with no one in need. God placed in the human heart the desire for justice. But true justice comes when we really love our neighbor and go the “extra mile,” to give your coat to the one who asks for your shirt, to live an “even greater” justice, a greater love that brings true equality among all. In everyday language, when we talk about “justice,” we refer to human rights, the need for equality among all, or the fair distribution of goods all over the world. “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.” (Mt 5:6) From a commentary by Chiara Lubich adapted by the International Gen 3 Center that’swhathappenedto… By appreciating the valueof every human being, who has basic rights just like us and is equal to everyone else in God’s eyes. Even more, we have to see each person as someone who is a living image of Jesus. Then we have to love them with the same love that the Father has for them, being ready to make sacrifices for them, even “laying down our life” for them. Then our desire for a united and just world, as God has envisioned it, will become a reality. He himself will come to dwell in our midst and he will satisfy our every desire with his presence. How can we livethis Word of Life? I was at home when a little girl came to the door and asked for something to eat. At first I told her that I didn’t have anything, but then I realized it was a chance to love. I gave her some food, but inside of me the little voice told me that I could do something more. As I looked at her eating, I saw that her clothes were old and dirty and so I went to get some of mine to give her. She was very happy and I was, too. Victoria, Argentina If we love, we will share and then the poor will be helped to have what they need. To bring about true justice and equality, people need a change of heart, so that they will be generous and give their material and spiritual goods, to be gift to others, to make everyone part of one family.
