  5. Protection Responsibilities • 19,279 Residents • Approx. Daytime Population of 75-100,000 • Over 2000 Businesses • Hazardous Material Response for Planning District 16 and parts of Districts 9 & 17 • Mutual Aid response to surrounding localities

  6. Protection Responsibilities • Mary Washington College – 4,000 students & 700 employees • Mary Washington Hospital – a 300 plus bed facility with 2,800 employees • Interstate 95 • CSX Railroad & VRE • Rappahannock River

  12. Fire Prevention • The Fire Department is responsible for inspecting over 2000 businesses annually, in the City of Fredericksburg.

  13. Fire Prevention • Responsible for issuing permits. • Over 280 hours of training is required to be a Fire Marshal. • Our Fire Marshals are sworn law enforcement officers. • The Fire Marshals respond to fires, complaints regarding, and violations of the Virginia State Fire code.
